AMY BOSK, LCSW-R
For nearly 10 years, I've been in private practice in the heart of Astoria, NY, the neighborhood where I've lived for most of my adult life. I'm an LCSW-R with nearly 20 years of experience working in the field of mental health in New York City. I obtained my BA in Psychology at Muhlenberg College and my Master's Degree in Social Work from New York University. At NYU, I specialized in Evidence Based Practice in Mental Health, learning cutting edge and proven interventions to help people suffering to heal and live to their greatest potential.
After graduate school, I worked at the Center for Urban Community Services (CUCS) for 8 years, where I helped formerly homeless people overcome mental health struggles and live housed in the community. I worked closely with both clients and as a staff supervisor. The skills and experiences gained from this work enabled me to pursue my dream of seeing people in my own practice.
My passion for education continues as I strive to learn the latest in my field and further hone my skills. My training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) provides a helpful guide in treating anxiety, depression, and the long-lasting effects of trauma. Additionally, I have been trained specifically in working with people experiencing perinatal mental health issues including perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADS) and am working toward obtaining a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International.
